A Glimpse of Eternity

By John Rosser
"I'm home, I'm home!!!" The door swings open, and a voice from the other room asks, "Is that you dear?"  The reply:  "Yes! Yes!"

Imagine that you are returning home after being away for over a year on business. You haven't seen your wife and children the entire time and you're just longing to embrace them and hold them close in your arms.  You walk up to your home, swing open the door and shout, "I'm home!!!"  To your amazement, you see your wife and children just standing there with no excitement and no compassion.  They don't run to you, throw their arms around you or even hug you.  Instead, your wife yells, "I hope you brought the children the gifts that you promised them. We've been looking forward to receiving your gifts for over a year now!" Imagine how your heart would ache.  They didn't care about you but only what they would get from you. Unfortunately, many Christians are just as distant and cold toward the Lord.  Oh, they go to church, claim His promises and seek His blessings, but they never draw near to Him in intimacy and close fellowship.  They never abide in Him with the pure and simple desire to delight in Him.

It's a tragedy that so many Christians forsake eternal closeness with Christ for the passing pleasures of this world.

Did you know that you will be no closer to Jesus in heaven than you are right now?
