Soul Winning:  Work of God

1. Motivating Scriptures for Soul Winning - Witnessing in Love, Not in Fear and Guilt:

Matthew 22:1-10 – Therefore go into the highways, and as many as you find, invite to the wedding.

Corinthians 1:17-25 – The message of the Cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved, it is the power of God.

Corinthians 6-9 – We plant and water, but God gives increase.  This is God's work, and we are privileged to participate in it.

Corinthians 13 – Without love it profits us nothing.  We must understand the love God has for us and we will know how to love others.

II Corinthians 2:14-17 – Speaking the truth sincerely is never wrong, if done in love.

Luke 15:4-10 – "Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents."

John 4:34-38 – The fields are white for harvest.  "One sows and another reaps."

Daniel 12:3 – The wisdom of turning many to righteousness is eternal.

Proverbs 11:30 – The fruit of the  righteous is a tree of life, and he who wins souls is wise.

James 3:13-18 – Wisdom of God is pure, peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy

2.When you win a soul it is a gift to you and to them. The person that is receiving Jesus is receiving Him, they are receiving the gift of righteousness – His righteousness.

You are saving lives – If you were going to jump out of a plane and I knew where the parachutes were and didn't tell you, that would not be good.
Jesus is our parachute to save us from the Wrath of God.

3. Witnessing is just a result of a relationship with God.

Matthew 11:29-30 – His yoke is easy, His burden is light, God is gentle.

You are establishing relationships in the kingdom of God and having a rela- tionship with the Lord, to put you at ease.  We are presenting Jesus – our living God.
He is the word of God.  It's relationship with Him, not a dead theology or religious works that we're presenting to others.

We help people to understand that God has done a work so that we may come into relationship with Him as our Father.

4. DON'T FORGET YOUR FIRST LOVE, JESUS, AND GET CAUGHT-UP IN DOING THINGS.

5. Don't worry if you don't see immediate results in a person.

Mark 4:14 & 26-29 – We are sowing eternal seeds, something that will last forever. Only God knows the condition of the person's heart.

Everyone can witness and share their faith.  It's a blessing!
Part II

Why Do We Share the Gospel?

Jesus said:

Matthew 7:24-25 - "Whoever hears these sayings of Mine and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the Rock."

Daniel 12:3 -Those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the firmament, and those who turn many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever.

Proverbs 11:30 - The fruit of  the righteous is a tree of life, and he who wins souls is wise.

The Bible says it is wise to act on the word of God – to win souls.  When you win a soul, it is a gift to you and them.

Why Do We Share the Gospel?

Jesus said:

Luke 15:4 - "What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it?"

v5        "And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing."

v6        "And when he comes   home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, "Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!"

v7        "I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance."

One person saved brings great joy in heaven!

John 3:36 – "He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the Wrath of God abides on him."

We need to see eternal things:

People who receive Jesus Christ will not face the Wrath of God.

Jesus said:

Matthew 18:11 - For the Son of man has come to save that which was lost.

Jesus speaks to the Samaritan Woman at Jacob's well – John 4:1-25 – Jesus is our example.  He cared about one lost woman.

Jesus said:

John 4:34-38 -  "My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work. Do you not say, "There are still four months and then comes the harvest?"  Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest!"

John 4:34-38 (continued) "And he who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit of eternal life, that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together."

"For in this the saying is true:  One sows and another reaps,"

"I sent you to reap that for which you have not labored; others have labored, and you have entered into their labors."

If Jesus said to do something, then we must do it.

Jesus Himself witnessed to the Samaritan woman.

Remember that is God's work in them and in you.

God is interested in establishing relationships of love and keeping close intimate relationships with His family. If you had a son or daughter lost, wouldn't you want them to come home?

Luke 15:11-32 The prodigal son is an example of the Father's Love for His lost sons and daughters.

Ephesians 1 3:6 - When a person accepts Jesus in their life, they are accepted in the beloved and holy and without blame before Him in love.  It's a beautiful relationship established between our Father and His children, our brothers and sisters in Christ.
Part III

The Power of God for Witnessing

John 15:4-5 – (If you spend time with Jesus, he will bear fruit through you for the Kingdom of God.)

4        "Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me."

5        "I am the Vine, and you are the branches.  He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me, you can do nothing.

Jesus said: (You shall receive power from the Holy Spirit to share the Gospel).

Acts 1:4-8

4.  And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, "which," He said, "you have heard from Me;

5.  "for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now."

6.      Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him saying "Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?"

7        And He said to them, "It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority."

8        "But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."

Acts 2:3-4

(The promise of the Holy Spirit came to us on the day of Pentecost. The Holy Spirit is our Helper.)

3        Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them.

4        And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Acts 3:1-16 – (In verse 12 we see that the power and Godliness did not come from Peter and John, but from the Holy Spirit in them).

1        Now Peter and John went up together to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour.

2        And a certain man lame from his mother's womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms from those who entered the temple;

3        Who, seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, asked for alms.

4        And fixing his eyes on Him , with John, Peter said, "Look at us."

5        So He gave them His attention, expecting to receive something from them.

6        Then Peter said, "Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you.  In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk."

7        And He took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately his feet and anklebones received strength.

8        So he, leaping up, stood and walked and entered the temple with them – walking, leaping, and praising God.

9        And all the people saw him walking and praising God.

10     Then they knew that it was he who sat begging alms at the Beautiful Gate of the temple; and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.

11     Now as the lame man who was healed held on to Peter and John, all the people ran together to them in the porch which is called Solomon's, greatly amazed.

12     So when Peter saw it, he responded to the people:  "Men of Israel, why do you marvel at this?  Or why look so intently at us, as though by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk?"

13     "The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, glorified His Servant Jesus, whom you delivered up and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let Him go."

14     "But you denied the Holy One and the Just, and asked for a murderer to be granted to you,

15     "and killed the Prince of Life, whom God raised from the dead, of which we are witnesses."

16     "And His name, through faith in His name, has made this man strong, whom you see and know.  Yes, the faith which comes through Him has given him the perfect soundness in the presence of you all."

Ephesians 1:16-23

(Greatness of His Power Towards Us Who Believe  in the Name of Jesus)

17     do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers:

18     that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of Glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him.

19     The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling. What are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints.

20     And what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power

21     Which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places,

22     Far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and very name that is named, not only in the age, but also in that which is to come.

23     And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church,

24     Which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.

Ephesians 3:17-21

(The Power That Works in Us)

17      that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, that you, being rooted and grounded in love,

18      may be able to compre- hend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height –

19      to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

20      now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,

21      to Him be the glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end.  Amen.

John the Baptist said:

Matthew 3:11

(The Power of the Holy Spirit)

"I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is     mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry.  He will baptize you with the HOLY SPIRIT AND FIRE."

Hebrews 12:28-29

(The Grace of God Enables Us to Do What We Are Not Able to Do by the Power of the Holy Spirit)

28      Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and Godly fear.

29      For our God is a consuming fire.

Jesus said:

Luke 10:18-20

18      And He said to them "I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven."

19      "Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you."

20      "Nevertheless, do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven."

Colossians 1:9-14

(Strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power.  He has delivered us

from the power of darkness)

9        For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding.

10      that you may have a walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;

11      strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and long- suffering with joy.

12      giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light.

13      He has delivered us from the power of darkness and translated us into the kingdom of the Son of His love.

14      in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.

II Corinthians 13:3-5

(Our strength comes from Christ in us).

3        since you seek a proof of Christ speaking in me, who is not weak toward you, but mighty in you.

4        For though He was crucified in weakness, yet He lives by thepower of God.  For we also are weak in Him, but we shall live with Him by the power of God toward you.

5        Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith.  Prove yourselves.  Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?  - unless indeed you are disqualified.

II Peter 1:2-3

(His divine power)

2        Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord,

3        as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue.

I Corinthians 12:1, 4-14

(The spiritual gift of different kinds of tongues, when

exercised by the believer, brings

power for witnessing).

1        Now concerning spiritual gifts, bretheren, I do not want you to be ignorant:

4        Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.

5        There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord.

6        And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all.

7        But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all:

8        For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit.

9        To another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit,

10  To another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.

11  But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.

12  For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ.

13  For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body – whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free – and have all been made to drink into one Spirit.

14  For in fact the body is not one member but many.

I Corinthians 14:2 He who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men, but to God."

I Corinthians 14:4 - He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself."

(You give thanks to God when you speak in tongues).
I Corinthians 14:16-17 -

16  Otherwise, if you bless with the Spirit, how will he who occupies the place of the uninformed say "Amen" at your giving  thanks, since he does not understand what
     you say?

17  For you indeed give thanks well, but the other is not edified.

(You pray according to the will of God when you speak in tongues)
Roman's 8:26-27.

26      Likewise, the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but he Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings, which cannot be uttered.

27      Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

Jude

(You feel stronger inside when

you pray in the Spirit)

21      But you, beloved, building  yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit,

22      keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

Acts 8:14-17

(Some people receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit through the laying on the hands).

14   Now when the apostles who were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them.

15      Who, when they had come down, prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit.

16      For as yet He had fallen upon none of    them.  They had only been baptized in the name of  the Lord Jesus.

17  Then they laid hands on them, and they  received the Holy Spirit.

Acts 10:38-48

38      "how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed

by the devil, for God was with Him."

39      "And we are witnesses of all things which He did both in the land of the Jews and in Jerusalem, whom they killed by hanging on the tree."

40      "Him God raised up on the third day, and showed Him openly,"

41      "not to all the people, but to witnesses chosen before by God, even to us who ate and drank with Him after He arose from the dead."

42      "And He commanded us to preach to the people, and to testify that it is He who was ordained by God to be Judge of the living and the dead."

43      "To Him all the prophets witness that, through His name, whoever believes in Him will receive remission of sins.

Ask God for the gifts to improve your witnessing.

I Corinthians 14:1 – Pursue love, and desire spiritual gifts . . .

Jesus said:

Luke 11:13 – "If you then, believe evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!"
